Maggie had her temps last summer but we didn’t get to drive enough that she was ready for the test. She got her permit this week and we had gone out driving for the first time. Maggie said that she needed another tour of the car because it has been a while. We went to the same parking lot that Beth and I had gone to. Maggie and I traded places in the car and prayed over her and gave her the same tour and talk that Beth had gotten about the car. Since Maggie had some experience it was easier. We went around the parking lot starting and stopping, and then moved to the street. I also took her picture. This time there was a lot more traffic. These drivers were in lanes that all had the stop signs but lead onto the street that we were on, but they all raced up to the sign and stopped all at once. We had the right of way so if the cars had stopped gently and slowed down before the signs we could have gone smoothly around the circle. Since we were never sure if they were going to run the stop signs we had to slow down to almost a stop for each oncoming car. It was unnerving for Maggie. If people are headed to the hospital or are new drivers, sometimes they run stop signs. So since they were all going full speed to the stop signs we had to be extra careful. We made it around the circle without any problems. I hope to take the girls driving each day.
Their grandma currently takes them to school each day. She has diabetes and the eye doctor said at the last visit that when she got her eyes tested this year she might not pass and would not be allowed to drive any more. Mom called to tell me this last month. She asked that the girls get their licensees as soon as possible so if she doesn’t pass we can still get them to school.
